SkyeVine sells its services through a network of licenced Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Enquire with us by emailing sales@skyevine.com so we can put you in touch with an ISP that services your specific country or region.

Can I install it myself?

It is recommended that installation is done by our trained network, via your Internet Service Provider. Do you have technical questions?

We've answered a few of them here.

How long are the time delays with satellite data transmissions?

Geostationary satellites are located in orbit approximately 36,000 kilometers above the equator. The total roundtrip time for TCP/IP transmission is therefore between 550ms to 720ms.

What are the maximum uplink and downlink speeds?

The SkyeVine modem is able to receive at speeds of up to 16 Mbps and transmit data up to 512 kbps depending on the location of the terminal within the footprint.

How stable is the SkyeVine service in bad weather?

SkyeVine uses Ku-band spectrum that is provisioned on premium transponders on the IS-28 satellite. The link availability has been engineered to the highest standards with space segment link budget calculations assuming 99.96% availability over a year. Together with uplink and downlink power control and ACM (Adaptive Coding and Modulation) potential outages are overcome, while optimizing the use of satellite transponder bandwidth. This gives the SkyeVine network higher reliability compared to other two-way consumer satellite services offered in South Africa and Europe.

What frequency bands are used for SkyeVine

SkyeVine operates in Ku-band. Ku-band capacity is on premium transponders in Intelsat IS-28. Intelsat is the biggest satellite fleet operator in the world.
